Fall Breakfast: sausage and apples
My husband is our breakfast cook on the weekends, and one of his specialties is sausages cooked with apples. Simply fry the sausage in a covered pan on low heat, covered with sliced apple rings and sprinkled with brown sugar, until the apples are soft and the sausage is cooked through. We indulged a few weeks ago: here is one small portion with a buttered scone and cup of tea.

I love apples and sausage... I make an old English recipe called "Flitch Pie" that has apples and potatoes and sausage (or ham, or bacon) all cooked in a pie crust with a little stock. I haven't made it in awhile... maybe this week. I have always concurred with Almanzo in _Farmer Boy_ whose favorite food was apples 'n onions. :o)
This sausage & apple recipe sounds delicious...do you use pre-cooked store-bought sausage or could you use homemade "German" sausage? My husband's family still makes their own pork sausage.
If you look back over the blog, you will see that we are a family obsessively fond of sausage. :)
Thanks for posting!! And glad you enjoyed the talk!
